I can’t quite believe that a month has passed since our last blog post. Writing that feels like it was both yesterday and many months ago all at once. It’s like time has stood still but that frozen moment has kept creeping forward. I
I had all these plans to kick start my productivity and whilst I did on some things, other things have been a slow burner. But you know what? That is perfectly fine.
Same Place, Different Space
Unlike the first half of lockdown though, the last few weeks have seen a bit more variety. Whilst we haven’t changed our day to day living since some of the restrictions have eased, we have taken advantage of being able to be out for longer and being able to travel for daily exercise.
The idea to spend 12 months travelling the UK was ‘discovering what’s on our doorstep’ and surprisingly we are still doing that from our lockdown spot. Even though we took a little time to explore our home town before we left (as Jon was working his notice period), it turns out there is still so much more to see.
We do think that it probably seems that way because we have a totally different appreciation of our surroundings now. What we once would have taken for granted, we now see through fresh eyes and even the simplest things like woods or a river are jewels to us.
We’ve also started noticing more history references around us. Again, this is definitely from our travels that we pick up on more historical cues such as road names, plaques and building names. For example, on a recent trip to Gosport Ferry I actually read the information boards that explain how some of the troops departed for the D-Day landings from that very shore as well as Stokes Bay and Lee on the Solent.
Sharing the Knowledge
It’s cool that even standing still, we can continue to share new spots with our friends, family and followers. We have had quite a few people asking us where these places are, people who have lived in the area for a while just like us. It has definitely kept the travel spirit alive and kicking and given us a renewed sense of wanderlust.
We are also certain that the posts from our travels around the UK will also be of great value to everyone who is going to be ‘staycationing’ this year. Everything was documented on Instagram and Facebook so do go and have a look through there! Plus I will be adding more detailed accounts on this blog on some of our highlights from the many towns, properties and landscapes that we have visited.
This could be one of the positives to come from the pandemic; that more people will now be exploring options within the UK for their holidays. There is a wealth of beauty waiting to be discovered and we believe that there is something for everybody here.

Great to read what you have both been up to.since I’ve been allowed out for my one walk a day we have found some very quite places that we didn’t no existed so near to us.
